WHAT IS CHAMBAO MALDIVES
Chambao Maldives is a company created by 2 Spaniards based in the Maldives.
It was created after visiting this country on a few occasions for holidays and observing the enormous culinary deficiencies on the local islands. Thus began this beautiful project "MALDIVAS ASEQUIBLE".
Chambao Maldives is a very interesting project since it was born in the middle of the pandemic when everybody was locked up. Maldives was one of the few destinations open to the world. That is when we thought it was time to make the Indian Ocean known at a good price and put an end to the cliché of needing to pawn your life to get to know this marvel.
We started with many setbacks as the Maldives is a country where we have a shortage of product and practically everything comes from abroad. Every product on our clients' tables is brought from Spain or bought from the local market. We love being able to pick the fruit and vegetables personally, making sure we put fresh produce on our customers' tables.
We like to travel the world backpacker style and at the same time we take the opportunity to buy things for our Chambao. That's why there you will find different things from Malaysia, Vietnam, Turkey, Thailand, Dubai etc. First we buy the dish and then we decide what we are going to serve on it :)
In Chambao we have rooms which is very interesting because they are made from recycled material. The bathrooms are made of dead coral as the Maldivians used to make their houses.
Every table, door and chair at Chambao is handmade by ourselves and with the help of local craftsmen, which is how we combine our imagination and creativity. Every year Chambao presents a creative improvement.
As we come from the Costa del Sol we try to take something of our Andalusia with us and as a result we have a Maldivian boat adapted to follow the tradition of the espeto. But not with charcoal, but with coconut shells which gives it an exotic aroma.
Our strong point is the culinary aspect as we offer a fusion of Mediterranean food with Maldivian products, such as yellow fin tuna, octopus, lobster and very good fish. We have a 10 out of 10 acceptance because one of the most important points when you are on holiday is to eat well.
So far we have had very interesting visits such as the president of the country three months after opening with all his top people, world famous influencers, we have filmed programmes for Spanish television and other countries, and we have had visits from some very well known Spanish actors and singers...
Our guests feel at home, but with beautiful beaches with warm turquoise waters in front of them. We have staff from Germany, Colombia, Dominican Republic, Russia, Sri Lanka and Spain, this differentiates us from other hotel offers, the hospitality and the price, we know that Maldives is usually an expensive destination but we adapt it to any budget and it becomes a very good alternative for the customer, especially if you travel with your family.
At Chambao we are 100% integrated with the local population because without their help it would not be possible.
If you are interested in visiting this paradise in the Indian Ocean, you can get to know its turquoise waters, its temperature that never varies between 29 and 30 degrees all year round and above all the incredible marine fauna, such as sharks, manta rays, etc., and dive in one of the best spots in the world. In fact, it is a paradise for surfers. We are developing as a surfing destination because we have unexplored waves there that people need to know about.
