Centro Plaza will host its 3rd solidary race on the 28th of January
The event was presented this morning with the assistance of the councillor of sports, Javier Mérida, the delegate of Nueva Andalucía, Cristóbal Garré, the president of the Marbella Red Cross, Julián García Aguilar and Carlos García, manager of Centro Plaza shopping centre
Marbella, 22nd of January 2018: This year again, for the 3rd time, the Centro Plaza shopping
centre is hosting its solidary race. This time the race will take place on the 28th of January and
will follow its usual trajectory, starting by the hotel PYR in Puerto Banús and ending in the
Centro Plaza shopping centre. The event was presented this very morning with the assistance
the councillor of sports, Javier Mérida, the delegate of Nueva Andalucía, Cristóbal Garré, the
president of the Marbella Red Cross, Julián García Aguilar and Carlos García, manager of
Centro Plaza shopping centre.
During the presentation, both councilmen pointed out the importance of these private initiatives in favour of the promotion of sport and solidarity, encouraging citizens to participate: "This is a quality event, such as we are used to from Centro Plaza", added Mérida, who will not be running this year but will be present to support the event. Garré, who will also attend explained " The involvement of citizens is key for the development of the districts", and used Centro Plazas work in the organization of the Solidary Race, year after year, as an example of this commitment.
Carlos García, manager of Centro Plaza, highlighted that "Inscriptions can be made online, at centroplaza.es, through dorsal chip or in person at the Urbemar offices in Centro Plaza shopping centre, until noon of the 26th of January. For those who decide to inscribe last minute, they may do so at the starting point of the race before it begins, between 8:30 AM and 9:30 AM".
Inscription prices are 8 euros for adults and 3 euros for all minor categories. The funds raised will be destined entirely to the Marbella Red Cross. "This year it will be used to reinforce the `Intemperie ́ programme", stated Julián García Aguilar, president of the Marbella Red Cross. "It ́s an assistance programme for homeless people, which we will soon be able to apply in a more worthy fashion through the opening of our new emergency centre" he concluded.
The Centro Plaza race is a great charity event and a must go on the Marbella sports calendar. The event is supported by both public and private institutions including Siesta interior design,
Frutas Eladio, LY Company, ALC Global Health Insurance, Café Yanx, Luna Agustín Ulibarri lawyers, Gonvel GV & Kamph Lawyers and Tax Advisors, CIT Marbella and the Marbella and San Pedro athletics clubs.
The race begins by the Hotel PYR in Puerto Banús on Rotary International Street at 10:00 AM. The track is 8 km long and runs through Puerto Banús and Nueva Andalucía, it is of medium difficulty encompassing upward and downward slopes and flat areas. The finishing line is in the Centro Plaza shopping centre on Manolete Street, 1, Nueva Andalucía.
Shorter tracks have been selected for the minor categories. For those aged 11 or less the race will begin at 11:30 AM and will be 400 metres long, whereas those aged 13 or less will start 20 minutes later at 11:50 AM, and their track will be 800 metres long. Those aged 17 or less (two groups) start at 12:15 PM and have a track of 1600 metres.
The participants can pick up their dorsals in the Urbemar offices, the administrative company of Centro Plaza, office nr. 6, between 10:00 AM and 02:00 PM on the 25th and 26th of January, or on the 28th before the race, between 08:00 AM and 09:30 AM at the starting line by the Hotel PYR in Puerto Banús.
The main provisioning point will be installed by the finishing line, with an auxiliary point half way to provide water. Sanitary service and ambulances will also be located by the finishing line.
All prizes will be handed over from mid-day onward in Centro Plaza. There will be trophies for the winners of the main race in both the male and female categories. Gold, silver and bronze medals will be awarded to the top 3 of each group and each sex. The juvenile, junior, promising and senior categories will additionally receive a technical race shirt and the pre Benjamin, Benjamin, alevin, infantile and cadete categories will get a back pack.
